₹20 coin value — is it really ₹3 lakh?
The ₹20 coin is the newest denomination here, which makes the “worth lakhs” claim about it the easiest of all to check.
An ordinary ₹20 coin is worth ₹20. It is legal tender, so it is worth what it says on it. Some specific versions carry a collector premium — and this page quotes a range for one only where completed sales back it.
The ₹20 coin in particular
A coin issued in recent years cannot be rare yet. Rarity in numismatics comes from how few were struck and how few survived — not from age, and certainly not from a few years passing. The current ₹20 was minted for circulation, which is the opposite of scarce.
This is the clearest illustration of a rule that applies to every coin on this site: old does not mean valuable, and new does not mean worthless. A 1960s coin struck in the tens of millions can be worth less than a 1990s coin struck in the thousands. What matters is the mintage and the condition.
