What old Indian coins and notes actually sell for
25,314 completed sales, collected from 8 independent coin shops. These are prices somebody paid — not asking prices, and not a price guide's estimate. Nothing else in India publishes realised prices for old money, so this page keeps them in the open for anyone to use.

Money that is still in circulation
These are coins and notes you still find in a pocket. The right-hand figure is misleading on its own and should not be quoted without this sentence: nobody lists an ordinary note for sale, so a collector catalogue contains only the special ones — a fancy serial, a star replacement, an uncirculated bundle. The inflation is absence, not contamination. An ordinary note from your pocket is almost certainly worth its face value.
| Denomination | Face value | Collector median | Sales |
|---|---|---|---|
| ₹5 note | ₹5 | ₹625 | 39 |
| ₹10 coin | ₹10 | ₹213 | 114 |
| ₹10 note | ₹10 | ₹615 | 61 |
| ₹20 note | ₹20 | ₹567 | 12 |

How this was collected
- A sale counts only when a shop marks the item as sold. An asking price, a price-guide estimate and an unsold listing are all excluded.
- Collected between 2026-07-19 and 2026-08-23. Those are the dates the records were gathered, not the age of the items.
- Prices are whole rupees as the shop recorded them. Nothing is adjusted for condition, and no outlier is removed.
- Sources, by number of sales: coinbazzar (15,833) · collectorbazar (8,692) · sikkaji (734) · kbcoins (20) · rncoins (17) · indianhobbyclub (14) · numisindia (3) · numispoint (1)
- A per-item page appears only where at least 8 sales from 2 or more separate shops agree closely enough to mean something. Most items do not qualify and have no page.

Selling something yourself?
You never pay anyone to sell — not a registration fee, not customs clearance, not GST, not a refundable deposit. Anyone who asks you for money first is running a fraud.
