Taking coins to sell at a fair?
- A dealer at a fair buys to resell, so they will offer less than what the same coin sells for. We have no record of dealers’ buying prices — what we do have is 11,592 completed sales at independent shops, with a median of ₹175. Know that number before you go. See the real prices →
- Show the same coin at two or three stalls before you agree a price.
- Nobody genuine charges you to “register”, “certify” or “clear” a coin before buying it — not at a fair, not on the phone. How the fee scam works
- Coins 100 or more years old cannot legally be taken out of India — anyone offering to “export” yours is lying.
Entry, and what to carry
One of the listings says entry is free unless an event states otherwise; none of these events states its own terms. Carry a photo ID — the 2025 Mumbai Coin Society show asked for one.
